THE YUM DEE DAYS EVERYONE'S YOUR FRIEND

London indie label Double Denim doesn't release a huge amount of music, but what they do put their name to invariably hits all the right notes for us. And joining NYC pop superstar-in-the-making Tei Shi and Cornwall shoegaze sisters Hockeysmith on the roster this week are Brooklyn duo The Yum Dee Days. Jay and Jim from the band - no surnames given - paired up two years back, playing a slew of low-key shows in people's houses and writing lyrics in their cars, before eventually fine-tuning their sound with the help of producer Nicolas Vernhes (The War On Drugs, Deerhunter). 'Everyone's Your Friend', their debut single proper via Double Denim, is one such fruit of those sessions; a pulsing, skewed-pop track laden with yawning Mac Demarco guitar riffs, garbled bass and twinkling, tumbledown percussion, it's guaranteed to slap a big grin on your face whatever time of day. - DC
